What do you do when you have worldwide success with a trail running shoe? Rest on your laurels or strive to make it even better? We’re inov-8… the answer is obvious. Not content with a bulging file of stellar reviews and gushing feedback forms, we went away and scrutinised the previous TRAILTALON shoes to find ways in which we could improve them. The outcome is the new TRAILTALON 290 and TRAILTALON 235 footwear offerings for Spring/Summer 2018.

TRAILTALON 290

Let’s start with the TRAILTALON 290, an evolution of the previous TRAILTALON 275. Designed for running long miles on hard-packed trails and paths, the 290 now delivers the perfect fit, increased protection and unrivalled comfort.

The strengthened met-cradle casing across the mid-foot features our next-generation ADAPTERFIT technology, which allows the shoe to adapt to the natural movement and swelling of the foot on longer distance runs. No matter how hard or far you push your body – and of course your feet – you will enjoy an adaptive upper fit that ensures the ultimate in comfort. We’ve also used a new, more breathable, upper material that delivers an improved fit right across the toe-box area and less unnecessary volume.

At the front of the shoe, a new rubber toe bumper protects your toes from the sharp rocks and stones encountered on many trails. No longer will a bruised toe cut short your trail run or race.  Underneath the lacing system, meanwhile, the tongue is gusseted down both sides to prevent annoying bits of debris from getting inside the shoe and causing irritation.

The POWERFLOW midsole delivers improved levels of shock absorption and energy return, while the outsole has the same 4mm deep cleats as before and features three rubber compounds that combine to give the best in sticky, durable grip on all hard-packed trails and paths.

Want to see how the TRAILTALON stacks up when put to the toughest of trail running tests? Damian Hall wore it when placing 11th at this year’s UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc). Read all about his success in this brutal 171km race here.

TRAILTALON 235

Also updated for Spring/Summer 2018, is the lighter, faster version of the TRAILTALON, which is now called the TRAILTALON 235 – yes, it weighs just 235g!  Designed for running and racing at speed on hard-packed trails and paths, the 235 – an evolution of the TRAILTALON 250 – delivers the perfect, flexible fit with increased protection and support.

Like the 290, the 235 benefits from a new, more breathable, upper material that delivers an improved fit right across the toe-box area and less unnecessary volume. It also has increased support in the heel and a welded film toe bumper that offers lightweight protection for your toes.

Again, the POWERFLOW midsole delivers improved levels of shock absorption and energy return, while the outsole has the same 4mm deep cleats as before and features three rubber compounds that combine to give the best in sticky, durable grip on all hard-packed trails and paths.

The TRAILTALON 235 features a 4mm drop (heel to toe differential) bringing you closer to the ground for a slightly more responsive ride than the 290, which has an 8mm drop.
