Reviews: The New TRAILROC Trail Running Shoes

inov-8 TRAILROC 285

***UPDATE – JANUARY 2018*** New and in-depth review of the TRAILROC 285 by highly-influential US running website iRunFar. The reviewer writes: “This is one of the best trail shoes to come out in the last three years. It is understated, absolutely functional, and disappears on my foot during longer runs.” Read the full review.

In 2017 our new TRAILROC shoes took the trail running market by storm. Both the TRAILROC 285 and TRAILROC 270 retain the same DNA as the previous trail running shoes by the same name but were completely redesigned from the outsole up. We worked with top athletes across the world to make sure we delivered the very best for running over hard and rocky trails, be those in The Rockies, The Alps or anywhere else.

Influential journalists and bloggers, as well as our athletes and ambassadors, put the TRAILROC shoes to the test over hard and rocky terrain across the globe. Check out these full reviews and social media posts.

10/10 – inov-8’s brought its TRAILROC series back from the wilderness, and it was well worth the wait. The 285 is a delight to run in, with ground contact feel and overall responsiveness contributing to a shoe that makes even your heavy footed tester feel light and nimble on his feet. An extra heel counter provides a good amount of stability, but the upper is more akin to that of a road shoe – seam-free and breathable – while the sticky rubber outsole provides unparalleled grip” – Men’s Running, September 2017.

“The TRAILROC 285 is a fast and light shoe with excellent protection, prefect for rocky terrain 9/10.” – Outdoor Fitness & Adventure, October 2017.

“I really took to them right from the off, so much so that I ended up running a 120k ultra in them after only 10 days. This shoe delivers in droves – comfort underfoot, protection from rocks, a fit that allowed my toes to spread but didn’t let my foot shift around, and a seamless, breathable upper.” – Kirsty Reade, Run 247, August 2017. “A light and comfortable upper along with a sole that provides responsiveness and support for those hard-packed trails, the TRAILROC 285 feels like a good all-rounder that will perform in other conditions as well.” Run Ultra, September 2017. Read review HERE.

“The TRAILROC 285 is the perfect combination of a lightweight, responsive trail shoe, with the rugged outsole and upper required to withstand trail conditions.” – Relentless Forward Commotion, July 2017. Full ‘early’ review HERE.

“I had the pleasure of being involved in the feedback and design of the all new TRAILROC 270. They even took a photo of my skinny legs flying through the air in them (see above). It’s not the same shoe as the old TRAILROC, but it’s going to be just as good, if not better.” – Peter Maksimow, US international trail and mountain runner, July 2017.

“The new TRAILROC 285 is much more rugged than the original, offering more durability and longer life.” – Mud Run Guide, June 2017. Full ‘first look’ review HERE.

The best of social media #trailroc

I can think of about 7 days in my life that I can classify as “the best day ever” and they were all alpine climbs that left me totally exhausted . Climbing Mount Tupper was one of those days and looking into the distance from its summit to giants such as Sir Donald makes the possibilities of days like these seem endless. The real question is, why am I doing anything else with my time? On another note, this was the first time I took trail runners as approach shoes and it felt awesome to be so light on my feet . The @inov_8 #TRAILROC 285s had enough grip so that I never actually had to take my climbing shoes out of the packJuly 9, 2017 @lucas_really #outdoorwomen #explorebc #coalitionsun @biolite #findyourfrontier
