On Saturday June 21st, I ran the Mount Washington Road Race – a 7.6 mile run up the Mt. Washington Auto Road with 4,727 feet of elevation gain. I would never have considered myself a mountain runner, so this is really a way to challenge my perceived weaknesses and force me to really work on uphill running.
I ended up having an amazing day – finishing 13th female in 1:27:52. This was a 10-minute improvement over my previous best time! I wore the RoadX 155s for the race (and for the run down) – it was great to have the lightest shoes possible for the run.
Have you ever challenged yourself with a race, whether it be distance or terrain?
