Latest news from Team Inov-8 is that Steve, Dave and Heather have just got back from some awesome racing in and around the city of Edinburgh, competing with and beating some of the UKs top adventure race teams to win the Edinburgh Rat Race!

The Rat Races are a series of urban adventure races taking place for 2007 in Bristol, Edinburgh and London. Rat Races are different to your average adventure race in that most of the action takes place in an urban landscape. Predominantly running and cycling events, there are loads of different challenges along the way, ranging from ice climbing, kayaking, street orienteering through to eating a deep fried mars bar as quickly as possible! To win the race you need to be fast – both athletically and mentally.

"The race takes place in two parts – the mean streets prologue on Saturday night – three hours of fast and furious action on the streets of Edinburgh. One minute we were running along the sea front at the north of the city, the next legging it up Arthurs Seat as fast as we could and then on to Edinburgh Castle. We ran hard and Steves route choice and map reading were spot on – we finished first and had accrued enough points to have a 15 minute lead over the second placed team."

"The second part of the race starts early on the Sunday morning. We raced for around eight hours, lots of biking on and off road between different activities and challenges. Highlights were foot orienteering and mountain biking in the Pentlands on the edge of the city and abseiling off the side of Heart of Midlothians football stand! It was warm and sunny, a great day to be out racing. We were really pleased to maintain our overall lead and win the race. Next stop the big one – London!"

"On Saturday night we ran in our f-lite 320 PKs which were spot on – light, well-cushioned and grippy for all of the activities we encountered along the way (they also look pretty cool too :o) ). On Sunday we ran in our roclite 305s – this shoe is fast becoming my shoe of choice for everything off of the fell – great cushioning and tread and very light! We all used the new race-pro 18 pack which was comfy all day particularly with the position of Inov-8’s great new hydration system."
